Philosophy
We believe that each child is a unique and special individual! Our program is well balanced to meet each child’s individual needs. We have a great responsibility to the children who attend A Sunshine Palace Preschool and the staff provide your child with a safe, secure, stimulating and educational environment. The early childhood years are an important time of development for children. During this time, children need a stimulating environment in which they can build on their own knowledge, through many “hands on” experiences and through their own style and pace of learning. Many opportunities are provided for the children to explore and manipulate a variety of materials. Each child’s needs and interests are kept in mind in the planning of curriculum and in daily activities.

Curriculum
Our preschool offers a variety of experiences to stimulate children’s natural ability to learn and explore the world around them. Age appropriate activities provide for the development of basic skills and encourage a child’s sense of wonder.

A strong emphasis is placed on socialization skills, oral language development and motor skills. Teachers work from a thematic approach that presents new and challenging concepts to the children. The curriculum is a balance between learning centers, individual instruction, group time, and teacher directed activities. Our curriculum design recognizes that children learn best through active participation.

Each day the children will have the opportunity to learn while participating in Art, Music, Discovery, Circle Time, Snack Time, etc.

Young children are always learning and looking for ways to have funs. Our goal is to accomplish this in a happy and relaxed manner in a loving, nurturing environment.
Goals of our Curriculum

  • to provide a positive sense of identity and emotional well-being
  • to develop age-appropriate social, physical, language and motor skills
  • to encourage thinking, reasoning, questioning and experimenting
  • to provide exposure to the arts and encourage creative expression
  • to demonstrate proper health, safety and nutritional practice
  • to respect gender, age and cultural diversity
  • to encourage both interaction with other children in the group and participate in entire group activities

Birthdays
We love celebrations, and birthdays are among our most favorite! Please feel free to bring a special treat for your child’s class on his/her birthday. We also love any reason for a party! There will be celebrations through out the school year and we encourage all of our parents to help and participate in our festivities.

Parent Communication
Parents will receive a newsletter at the beginning of each month, which will give an overview of the upcoming activities and lessons. Please encourage your child to tell you about their day.

Parents may wish to speak to their child’s teacher regarding questions and concerns about their child and the appropriate time to do this is at the end of the day.
