I have had the pleasure of knowing Jamie Lockrow for almost 3 years. During that time, Jamie was the Director of the Daycare and Preschool my daughter attends. I have known Jamie in different capacities: as a very satisfied parent of Jamie’s program and we were also co-Executive Committee members of the Daycare and Preschool Center that she previously directed.
Jamie is an intelligent, dedicated, and personable young woman. Jamie is extremely capable of handling any situation with thoughtfulness and maturity. She is quick on her feet, with sensible reactions in all the circumstances I have seen her in. Her academic background and years of experience have prepared her to successfully direct and teach a Preschool program.
But most of all, she is truly gifted in working with children as well as communicating with their parents. Our family is so grateful that our daughter had the opportunity to know and love Jamie. Jamie has been such a positive and caring influence on her. We are so thankful!
I wish Jamie the best of luck in all of her endeavors.
Sincerely,
Karyn Waugh
Reference for Jamie Lockrow:
I met Jamie about 6 years ago in my capacity as an early childhood educator affiliated with Brunswick Church. I was serving on the church’s Search Committee trying to locate a new director for the Tender Loving Care Christian Day Care Center. Jamie interviewed and was subsequently hired. I joined the center’s Executive Committee and spent much time in the center in my job as an early childhood trainer. I have observed Jamie with the children, with the staff and with the parents. Jamie and I have discussed curriculum, setting up the school environment, positive guidance situations, and marketing ideas. I continue to be impressed by Jamie’s enthusiasm, organizational skills, and professionalism.
As the first educator to receive the NYS Early Learning Trainer Credential I am sometimes asked to teach about the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and its code of ethical conduct. Many organizations ask staff to sign a commitment you can find at http://www.naeyc.org/ecp/resources/ethics. This code covers topics such as:
- Never harm children
- Ensure that programs for young children are based on current knowledge and research of child development and early childhood education.
- Respect and support families in their task of nurturing children.
- Respect colleagues in early childhood care and education and support them in maintaining the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Serve as an advocate for children, their families, and their teachers in community and society.
- Stay informed of, and maintain, high standards of professional conduct.
- Engage in an ongoing process of self –reflection, realizing that personal characteristics, biases, and beliefs have an impact on children and families.
- Be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from the suggestions of others.
- Continue to learn, grow, and contribute as a professional.
Jamie personifies these ideals. I am honored to be her colleague and recommend her to you.
Sincerely,
Lynn S. Morris
